In Memoriam: Kirk S. Anderson, Sr.

It is with great sadness that we announce that Anderson Metals Corporation (AMC) second generation owner Kirk S. Anderson, Sr. passed away on June 26th, 2023. He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Patricia Ann, five of his six adult children, his two step-children, sixteen grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.

After growing up in Overland Park, Kansas and attending the University of Oklahoma, Baker University, and the University of Kansas (where he was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity), he went on to enlist in the U.S. Army in Honolulu, Hawaii. Kirk eventually returned to Kansas City, where he worked in the family-owned and operated business AMC, started by his father, Charles, in 1947. Kirk served as the sole owner and President of AMC from 1972-1990. He enjoyed mentoring his children and enabling them to take over the business and continue the family legacy.

Kirk and Patricia Ann enjoyed cruising, golfing, fishing, gambling, playing card games, and frequenting estate and garage sales. They visited every continent, many of them multiple times. They once took a cruise that lasted 180 days and journeyed around the world.

We are sorry for the loss, but thankful for Kirk’s hard work, witty sense of humor, and warm generosity. Our thoughts are with his family and friends.

The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, any donations can be sent to a local no-kill shelter named Melissa’s Second Chances (www.mscrescue.org) in memory of Kirk S. Anderson, Sr.
